TUMBLEDOWN alt/country/pop-punk-a-billy WWW,tumbledownhq.com Washington Video Coming!
After a relentless 2009 in which the band released their self-titled debut and a live album entitled, Live In Tulsa, in addition to touring in support of both, TUMBLEDOWN was ready to get back into the studio to start work on Empty Bottle. The music of Tumbledown takes that sepia-tinged image of Americana and sends it hurtling into the present, with the help of some punk-inflected riffs and pure rock & roll attitude. All of the album’s songs written on the road, the characters in Herrera’s songs drink to forget; they ask for a reason to stay in town without really expecting to get one; they look at the madness around them and wonder whether it’s them or the rest of the world that’s gone crazy. “I want to paint those colors that they've been missing but never knew were missing until they heard them on this new record and now life is never the same after that,” Herrera explains. “We have a good time each time we perform and we want our fans to have the same reaction while listening.” On Empty Bottle’s first single, “Arrested in El Paso Blues”, Herrera accompanied by Jack Parker on guitar and brothers Marshall and Harley Trotland on standup bass and drums, respectively, sings about country and roots music staples – drinking, fighting, gambling, ladies of the night and brushes with the law. From the full-frontal cowpunk attack of the opening cut, “Places In This Town,” where the narrator braves harm to body and soul but still finds strength to forge ahead, to closing track “Not Hung Over,” a classic morning-after-madness tale of a dizzy-headed drinking man’s denial, Empty Bottle offers an image of Americana that’s as true, tragic, tumultuous, and tantalizing
ALPHANAUT www.planetalphanaut.com California Video Coming!
Lush orchestral electro-pop, untethered jazz, supple melodies and lyrics that interject impressionistic twists into traditional song structures: Alphanaut is the musical collective created by songwriter-performer Mark Alan and Little Sun is the newest Alphanaut full-length release.
Across a spectrum of styles, Alan’s intimate narratives and lyrical confessionals frame the artful soundscapes. “I’m beginning to breathe,” offers the prologue in “Falling to Earth,” the opening track to Little Sun. While assurance rises from the music like a warm mist, there are opaque clouds, shadowy hues and spectral voices in the translucent washes of electronic surf.
The arrangements and productions of Little Sun cast wide panoramas, but the 13 songs retain the confidental intimacy of personal journals and creative impulses captured on an iPhone – small imprints that evolve into radiant choruses. The songs are visual impressions, sounds correspond with images and colors, and unexpected detours lead to uncharted sonic destinations. “I tend to think very visually when writing music,” says Alan.
While Little Sun traces silhouettes of art-rock and Euro-pop, the singer-songwriter introduces warmer organic elements via a close coterie of players who bring strings, bandoneon, upright bass and ukulele to contrast with Alan’s cinematic keyboards. Little Sun was tracked primarily at Alan’s Los Angeles home, where technology afforded him the luxury of a low-pressure production schedule and late night vocal sessions. The intensity was in the songwriting process and a collection of songs penned within a three-month window.

ARIEL APARICIO www.arielaparicio.com New York VIDEO LINK youtu.be/Nf5hUqsfpks
The soundtrack of Ariel Aparicio’s life is ever-expanding. Born in Cuba and raised in Miami, he was surrounded by the rhythms of salsa, funk, and disco. The discovery of Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin in adolescence prompted him to grow out his hair and pick up the guitar, but Aparicio never segregated genres from one another. As a young man sowing his oats in New York City, he was just as happy to revel in the punk and new wave noise of the Ramones, Blondie and the B-52′s as he was when he was dancing to Larry Levan’s genre-bending, colorblind mixes of reggae, Grace Jones, electro, house and Talking Heads at the Paradise Garage.
The sound of Aerials, Aparicio’s latest record, reflects that all-encompassing love of music. “I wanted to make a dance record, but with all guitars,” he explains. “I was trying to incorporate all the sounds that I heard when I was first going out to clubs where they didn’t just play ‘dance music,’ but would bring in all these other genres that you can dance to, all within the night, and appeal to everyone.” Aparicio is neither a young act recycling old trends for want of fresh ideas, nor a veteran artist struggling to stay relevant in a rapidly changing landscape. He simply makes his music the way he lives the rest of his life: in the now.
MIND MECHANICS mindmechanicsband.com Canada VIDEO LINK youtu.be/Jgft7Ah70Kc
Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, MIND MECHANICS is the brainchild of guitarist and vocalist, John Stitt, and drummer and lyricist, Gene Celeste. In addition to their years of writing songs together, Stitt and Celeste have consistently been involved with many recording projects over the years. The two set out on this particular project together with bassist, Sean Gregory, a veteran audio engineer and producer, with the goal of creating an original alternate rock album while maintaining the more modern and harder edge of progressive rock. Michael David Wolf makes his super-tenor vocal contribution to the song "Haunt The Highway" as well as all other tracks on the "Latest In The News" album. Michael's vocal style is bluesy and solid on top the band's classic rock sound. With just enough rasp in his voice to complete the chemistry, Michael's voice soars effortlessly and melodically right over the top of the arrangement. While "Haunt The Highway" has a contemporary edge, all of the elements of late-70's and early-80's classic power-ballad rock sound are evident.
SOUR BRIDGES
www.myspace.com/sourbridges
Texas
Sour Bridges are an indie-folk/rock band. Born in south Austin, TX in the year of 2009; the band has taken an old time country feel to the next level. With roots from all over the country, Sour bridges have an interesting combination of Texas folk, Appalachian bluegrass, and rock and roll. With five full-time members, each multi-instrumentalist brings a wide variety of character and prowess to the table. The fiddle, banjo, mandolin combination is a perfect accompaniment to a rustic strumming acoustic guitar. Their raw and natural sound is captured even when plugged in and on stage.
Another key element of Sour Bridges are the earthy tones and tender back up vocals. With three and sometimes four part harmonies blending together; a simple, wholesome, and unique sound is an essential element in their music. An a capella breakdown or chant-a-long is always in the set-list.
Sour Bridges put their first full length album out in early 2010 called Workin’ on Leavin’ . They are currently performing all over Austin and south Texas.
Sour Bridges are: Bill Pucci, Matt Pucci, Kat Wilkes, Dalton Chamblee, and Jack Bridges.

THE PARLOTONES www.the-parlotones.com South Africa VIDEO LINK www.youtube.com/watch
“The Parlotones could be huge here. Muse huge. Killers huge. Coldplay huge.” -The Boston Herald, 3/6/11 Thus declares one of Boston’s more formidable print establishments, mere days after the foursome made their first appearance in the city. The reaction to the band’s gorgeous, swelling melodies has been similar throughout North America, the newest continent to which South Africa’s famed rock n rollas have set their sights. While all of the band’s catalog has been available digitally in the United States and Canada for years, 2010’s Stardust Galaxies is the first to be supported in the region with a full-on tour by the band (no strangers to the road, regularly selling out 1000+ capacity venues in Europe, and arenas in their home country of South Africa), physical distribution, press, a radio campaign, video support, and an eager reception by the twitterverse and facebooklandia vanguard who were already familiar with the band. In June, of 2011 the band released their 2011 South African Music Award winning Live Design, a CD/DVD combo that was recorded at Johannesburg’s Coca Cola Dome.

The Defiant Ones is done. And out even. You can find it on iTunes, eMusic and our own store at http://www.cotlb.bandcamp.com. It kicks ass. In our own humble estimation. And a few other people seem to think so too. Lithium Magazine writes "The songs on 'The Defiant Ones' are held together with heartbroken melodies wrapped up in Sneyd’s ravaged vocals that will leave speechless anyone searching for Canada’s next indie rock sensation."
We shot a video for "Charge", and that'll be appearing really soon. And we put on a boisterous release gig at Mitzi's Sister with brass and the band sounding bigger than ever. It was a gas.
COLM CLARK aka Malcolm Strange www.facebook.com/#!/malcolm.strange New Jersey
Crush Limbo, a.k.a. Malcolm Strange, is Colm Clark: a musician and composer with a passion for cabaret glam rock, who's co-conspirators and collaborators have included Dublin, Ireland's Nora Costello. Clark describes the Crush Limbo sound as “music for Vespa-riding indie chicks, who wear tight leather jackets with sideways zippers. “ Despite the provocative name, Crush Limbo is no political manifesto, says Clark. “There are a few covert social and political references running through our lyrics, so it has the potential to become … agitprop, I suppose. Ultimately, though, our goal is rump-shaking rock and roll.” Clark says, somewhat cryptically, that their music is “somewhere between a synthesizer and a zither. “ One listen to “Beau Demimonde” (the flipside to single “Banal Conversations”) or “Soledad” gives truth to the lie: an intriguing blend of zither-like curios, like the autoharp and the marxophone, and vintage analog synths with names like Moog, ARP and Korg.

Nathan reached out to Bobby Harlow, a member of the seminal Detroit garage-rock group The Go (Jack White appeared on their Sub Pop release) to produce his debut full-length album.

"Every musician wants to feel like they're unique and doing something that's never been done before," say the members of a'tris. "But let's face it; you need to use an agreed-upon vocabulary to describe your music to others. As a musician, you have to come to terms with this as a necessity to discuss your music." Heavily influenced by the jazz, classical, and progressive rock genres, a'tris not only gives us music as a language, but also as a soundtrack to our lives. "Music and film are inherently intertwined," says Taylor. "I frequently look to film for inspiration and hope that my music has a bit of cinematic flair."
